The annual 36 Engineer Regiment Families’ Day and Queen’s Gurkha Engineers (QGE) Mela took place on 18 July 2026. Organised by 67 Gurkha Field Squadron under the leadership of Staff Sergeant Bhim Limbu.
The event brought together serving personnel, veterans, families, and friends for a day of celebration and community, recognising the vital support provided by families and reinforcing unity across the Regiment.
Guests were welcomed by the QGE Pipes and Drums, before entering a vibrant arena of traditional Nepali food, international cuisines, cultural displays, military exhibits, and charitable stands.
A dedicated family area offered games and activities for children, while interactive demonstrations engaged visitors of all ages.

Entertainment included a close‑quarter combat khukuri display, showcasing Gurkha heritage and martial tradition. An Intake talent show highlighted the confidence and creativity of personnel from across the Regiment, and live music from the Orbit Band sustained a lively and uplifting atmosphere throughout the day.
The Mela also raised funds for regimental and charitable causes, supporting veterans and the wider Gurkha community.
Its success reflected the teamwork and dedication of all involved, celebrating the Regiment’s heritage, its people, and the families who continue to underpin its strength.
