Personnel from across the Brigade of Gurkhas gathered on 24 June 2025 for the annual Briefing Day. The event was opened by Colonel David Robinson, Colonel Brigade of Gurkhas, who provided an update on current issues and outlined the Brigade’s growth plans for 2026 and beyond.
Major General Gerald Strickland CB DSO MBE, Colonel Commandant Brigade of Gurkhas, then addressed the audience. He praised the Brigade for another highly successful year, recognising its achievements not only in competitions, but also in supporting the British Army on major exercises and operations around the world. He emphasised that the Gurkhas must continue to uphold their reputation as among the finest professional soldiers in the British Army.
The General then focused on innovation, highlighting the importance of encouraging personnel to share ideas and bring new technologies forward as the British Army adapts for the future. He spoke about the need to take calculated risks to achieve future success, noting that the Brigade is full of energy and ideas that should be embraced wherever possible. Warfare is about pushing boundaries, and the Brigade of Gurkhas remains strongest when it works together as one team.
