Seremban Troop, 1 Squadron, 10 Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment, conducted Exercise KHUKURI MACHA in March 2026. Designed to strengthen cohesion, enhance morale, and build relationships beyond the routine barracks environment, the activity brought the troop together through a series of outdoor challenges. Planned by Corporal Ashok under the direction of Lieutenant Shankland, the programme combined fly fishing, camping, and hill walking to promote teamwork and personal wellbeing.

The first day began at Manningford Trout Fishery, where the troop received an introduction to fly fishing. For many, it was their first experience of the sport. The calm, open setting created an ideal environment for personnel to interact informally, build rapport across ranks, and practise qualities such as patience, persistence, and concentration — attributes that hold value both in military service and everyday life.

Following the fishing activity, the troop moved to Ridgeway Campsite, East Kennet. Working collectively to pitch shelters, prepare meals, and organise evening routines further reinforced teamwork and camaraderie, while offering a welcome change from the structured rhythm of barracks life.

The exercise concluded with a demanding hill‑walking phase, designed to develop navigational confidence and physical endurance. Completing the route as a team strengthened cooperation, mutual support, and troop spirit, demonstrating the value of shared effort in overcoming physical and mental challenges.

Exercise KHUKURI MACHA provided a meaningful opportunity for personnel to strengthen bonds, boost morale, and mentally recharge away from their daily routine. It highlighted the enduring importance of teamwork, resilience, and welfare in maintaining an effective, cohesive, and motivated troop.
