Showcasing Gurkha Heritage at Beverley Armed Forces Day 2026

Beverley Armed Forces Day 2026, hosted by the Defence School of Transport and East Riding Council, welcomed more than 7,000 visitors for a full day of military displays, community engagement, and cultural activities.
Under the direction of Captain Ganesh Gurung, soldiers from the Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (QOGLR) delivered a vibrant Nepalese cultural showcase. Their contribution included a traditional food stall, Gurkha exhibition stands, and cultural performances that highlighted the heritage and identity of the Brigade of Gurkhas. The activities were expertly coordinated by Corporal Rabin Rana, whose professionalism ensured the smooth and successful presentation of Gurkha culture throughout the event.
Hundreds of visitors engaged with the Gurkha stand to learn about the Brigade’s history, values, and more than 200 years of loyal service to the British Army. Highlights included a Khukuri pattern demonstration and a Nepalese cultural dance performed by the wife of Corporal Bibek. The event also featured on BBC North News, further raising awareness of the Brigade of Gurkhas and their contributions.
The Nepalese food stall remained busy throughout the day, serving traditional dishes and raising over £500 for local charities, including Hull 4 Heroes and the Military and Support Hub.
Beverley Armed Forces Day 2026 strengthened community links and proudly showcased Gurkha culture, heritage, and the continued contributions of QOGLR.
