94 Supply Squadron (9 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps) delivered a DOKO Challenge charity event to commemorate 211 years of loyal Gurkha service to the British Army. Conducted over five days, the activity combined physical endurance, teamwork, and cultural pride, while raising funds for the Gurkha Welfare Trust (GWT). The event was led by Corporal (Cpl) Saroj Pun, with support from Private (Pte) Prajwol Gurung and Private Diwahang Rai.

Participants completed a 211km route, carrying a traditional 15kg DOKO. The challenge reflected the Squadron’s cohesion and paid tribute to generations of Gurkha soldiers who have served with distinction.

Reflecting on the experience, Cpl Saroj said, “Taking part in the DOKO charity event was a demanding but rewarding experience, pushing my physical and mental resilience while supporting a worthwhile cause.” Pte Prajwol added, “The DOKO charity event reinforced the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and personal commitment when contributing to a shared charitable objective.”

The event concluded with a charity lunch that celebrated Gurkha culture and recognised the significant contribution Gurkhas have made to the British Army over more than two centuries. The occasion brought service personnel together in support of a valued cause and helped to raise awareness of the continuing requirement to support Gurkha veterans.

In total, £1,071.61 was raised in support of the GWT.
