Exercising the Right the Freedom of Brecon

On 8 June 2025, Gurkha Wing (Mandalay) supported by the Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas exercised the right to the Freedom of Brecon, with a parade through the town centre.

This annual event is always popular with the locals, with a growing Gurkha and Nepalese community in the area.

The dignitaries at the parade included: Councillor Marie Matthews (Brecon Mayor), Mr Jonathan Beatson-Hird (Deputy Lord Lieutenant), Mr Chandra Kumar Chimire (Ambassador of Nepal to the UK) and his wife Mrs Sarita Ghimire, Mrs Sally Roberts (The High Sheriff of Powys), Colonel David Robinson (Colonel Brigade of Gurkhas), Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Price and Major Bahindra Gurung.

Speeches were made by His Excellency, the Ambassador of Nepal and the Mayor.
