On the 3rd of July 2024, the Inter-Service Swimming, Diving, and Water Polo Championships were held at the Aldershot Garrison Sport Centre.
Sapper Bikash Thakuri from the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers, participated in the open 1m springboard and 5m diving platform events. In the competition, the Army secured first place in the team category. During the event, I was also recognized as the first Gurkha to be selected and compete in this competition.
The competition took place after a week of training. Even though diving was completely new to me, my background in gymnastics helped me during the training.
