The Armed Forces are helping to administer COVID-19 tests to lorry drivers stuck in Kent, waiting to cross the English Channel to France. This has included Gurkhas from the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers.

You can hear from Lieutenant Patrick Burford (Queen’s Gurkha Engineers) on how he assessed the situation, then the team set up and started to deliver COVID-19 tests to the thousands of drivers stuck on the M20 motorway or at Manston airport in Kent on the video below produced by Forces News.

The Queen’s Gurkha Engineers are currently based in Maidstone, Kent, just a few miles from this activity. One of the team, Lance Corporal Chandra Roka from the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers said he is “proud” to have the opportunity to help during the pandemic.
