Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment Record Breaking Win Trailwalker 2026

A team from the Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (QOGLR), delivered a record‑breaking performance at Trailwalker 26, held from 11–13 September 2026. This formidable 100km endurance challenge, jointly organised by The Gurkha Welfare Trust and the Queen’s Gurkha Signals, follows the iconic South Downs Way from Queen Elizabeth Country Park to Brighton Racecourse. With checkpoints positioned at roughly 10km intervals, teams of four must complete the course within 30hrs, supported by water stations, first aid and dedicated support crews.

This year’s event welcomed over 300 military and civilian teams, accompanied by hundreds of supporters who lined the route to encourage participants throughout the weekend. The event commenced on 11 September, with teams arriving at Queen Elizabeth Country Park for registration, race‑pack issue, GPS trackers and event T‑shirts. The atmosphere was vibrant, energised by a performance from the Queen’s Gurkha Signals Band, music echoing across the park, team photographs and final equipment checks.

At 0600hrs on 12 September, teams stepped off in staggered waves. Among the elite competitors, QOGLR delivered a performance that will be remembered for years. The Regiment’s lead team set the pace from the first checkpoint and maintained an extraordinary tempo throughout the course, crossing the finish line in a record‑breaking time of 9hrs, 12mins and 51secs. This achievement surpassed the previous record of 9hrs and 23mins, set by the Gurkha Allied Rapid Reaction Corps Support Battalion in 2024.

Equally impressive was the overall dominance of QOGLR, who secured three of the top four finishing places, underscoring the Regiment’s exceptional fitness, discipline and teamwork.

A proud and historic achievement for the Regiment, and a fitting demonstration of Gurkha endurance and spirit.

This year introduced the Trailwalker Relay, allowing teams of 6-12 participants to divide the route into four legs of approximately 25km each. This new format proved popular, attracting strong participation across both military and civilian groups.

From Friday’s lively registration to Sunday’s emotional finish at Brighton Racecourse, every participant contributed to the challenge that raised over £200,000 in vital funds for Gurkha veterans and their communities.
