The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (QOGLR) Intake Cup 2026 returned to Queen’s Avenue, Aldershot, on 11 April 2026, delivering an outstanding day of competitive football and reinforcing the enduring bonds across the QOGLR community.
A total of 17 teams participated, marking the highest number of teams registered in the history of the Intake Cup. This record level of participation contributed to a highly competitive and enjoyable tournament, with an exceptional standard of football displayed throughout the day. Following a series of closely contested matches, Intake 20 were crowned Main Cup winners, with Intake 22 finishing as the runners-up. In the Plate Category, Intake 16 secured victory, while Intake 17 claimed the runners-up position after a strong performance. Individual excellence was recognised with Private (Pte) Rahul Limbu, who was awarded the top scorer, Pte Saurab Rai named best player, and Pte Netra Bahadur Shrestha receiving the best goalkeeper award for his consistent and decisive performances.



Private Netra Bdr Shrestha – Winning team captain said; “Winning the QOGLR Intake Cup 2026 was a proud moment for Intake 20. It was the result of hard work, trust, and unity shown by every numbaris and baini haru. We supported each other throughout the tournament and stayed focused on our goal. The well‑organised event made this victory even more special.”
Lance Corporal Kishan Gurung – Plate team captain said; “Winning the Plate Cup at the QOGLR Intake Cup 2026 was a very proud experience. It showed the importance of teamwork, determination, and never giving up. The tournament was extremely well organised, and credit goes to Intake 15 for delivering such a professional and enjoyable event.”
Private Saurab Rai – best player said “The QOGLR Intake Cup 2026 was an unforgettable experience. Although we finished runners‑up, being named Best Player meant a great deal to me. I am grateful to Intake 15 for organising such a high‑standard tournament. The bonds between the numberis grew stronger, and we return next year with even more determination.”
Private Rahul Limbu the top scorer said; “Winning the Top Scorer award at the Intake Cup 2026 was a proud moment. It was made possible through teamwork, support from numberi haru, and a positive competition environment. This experience has boosted my confidence heading into the Nepal Cup 2026.”



The success of the event was made possible by the dedicated organising team from Intake 15. This was a genuine joint effort, involving serving and transferred personnel from eight different cap badges across the British Army, alongside support from a former QOGLR soldier now serving in the Royal Air Force.
More than a sporting fixture, the Intake Cup continues to serve as a vital engagement and cohesion event. The tournament welcomed over 700 attendees, including serving personnel, transferees, veterans and families. The event highlighted the strength, pride, and unity of the Regiment, setting a new benchmark for participation and reaffirming the importance of sport in sustaining lifelong regimental bonds.
