Soldiers, families, veterans, and friends of The Second Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles (2 RGR) came together to celebrate the Regiment’s 32nd Regimental Birthday in Brunei. The day began with remembrance for the late Krishna Dura.
This then proceeded into the football competition, the Krishna Dura Cup. The tournament featured an Officers’ team against a team from the Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers.
This was followed by the Junior Non-Commissioned Officers (JNCOs) team against the Riflemen team, with the JNCOs securing the cup win for 2026.
The ladies’ team sold traditional momo and selroti, raising £1,000 for the Gurkha Welfare Trust. Tug of War and Cheelo (Pull Throw) competitions added to the excitement. Later, prizes were presented to the winners, and the charity cheque was presented. Birthday messages from the Commanding Officer and Gurkha Major were followed by the traditional cake-cutting ceremony and lunch.
