I, Rifleman Pradip Khadka, was recently award top student on the Infantry Platoon Radio Operator IPRO Cadre 2401.  The training took place at Sir John Moore Barracks, Folkestone, with the Second Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles. The cadre, conducted by the Communication Information Services platoon, aimed to train 27 students from 2 RGR and Rangers Battalions to become proficient platoon radio operators.

The KHUKRI TRANSMISSION final exercise took place in the Cinque Port Training Area (CPTA). This exercise aimed to evaluate the practical knowledge and skills acquired throughout the training program. It allowed students to assess their proficiency and confidence gained during the training. The assessments covered various aspects such as Very High Frequency (VHF) with 5.4M mast, High Frequency ground wire/sloping wire, 8-meter mast with VHF dipole, and setting up a manpack command post. Despite facing some weather challenges while moving between checkpoints, these conditions also added value to the training.

I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to utilize my professional radio operator skills during upcoming training sessions, exercises, and future operations with the British Army.
