Freedom of the County of Kent Granted to the Brigade of Gurkhas

Brigade of Gurkhas has been honoured with the Freedom of the County at a special ceremony at County Hall, Maidstone in September.

Kent County Council’s award recognises the distinguished service the Brigade of Gurkhas has given the United Kingdom. The Freedom of the County was proposed by the council’s leader, Linden Kemkaran and councillors were in very strong support of the motion and approved the recognition. A formal parade will be held in 2027, with the date to be confirmed.

Present at the meeting representing the Brigade were Lieutenant Colonel Sean Parr (Royal Engineers), Major Khadkabahadur Gurung, Major Babindra Gurung and Warrant Officer Class One Nicholas Chadwick (Royal Engineers).
