Headquarters Brigade of Gurkhas Dinner Night to Celebrate and say Farewell

The Headquarters Brigade of Gurkhas (HQBG) hosted a Dinner Night at Robertson House, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, on 23 September 2026. The evening offered a fitting occasion to honour several departing members of the Headquarters whose leadership, professionalism and unwavering dedication have left a lasting impact on both HQBG and the wider Brigade.

Colonel David Robinson OBE (Colonel Brigade of Gurkhas) was formally recognised as he prepares to leave the Army after 35 years of distinguished service and assume his new role as Director of The Gurkha Museum Trust in Winchester. His tenure in the HQBG and throughout his career has been defined by steadfast leadership, deep respect for Gurkha heritage and tireless support to Gurkha soldiers and families across the Brigade.

Major Dammarbahadur Shahi, Staff Officer Grade Two Personnel Policy, also departs HQBG after serving in the role since February 2016. Over more than a decade, his contribution to personnel policy, welfare matters, support to service leavers and wider Brigade initiatives has been instrumental in strengthening the Gurkha community.

The team extended their warmest wishes to Captain Ruairi Logan, Adjutant The Royal Gurkha Rifles, as he moves to his next appointment in Germany. Staff Sergeant Anandbir Gurung, Workforce Plans Senior Non‑Commissioned Officer, leaves HQBG on promotion. Their meticulous work, professionalism and selfless commitment have been central to the smooth running of the Headquarters.

The Dinner Night was marked by gratitude, reflection and camaraderie, celebrating the service of those departing while reinforcing the strong bonds among those who continue to serve within HQBG.
