British Gurkhas Nepal (BGN) formally inaugurated the Mani Cup on 27 February 2026 in honour of the late Corporal Manikumar Gurung, an exemplary member of its staff.


The annual trophy was unveiled by Colonel Dan Rex MVO, Commander BGN. Officers, staff, and family members gathered for a condolence programme, during which a minute’s silence was observed in Corporal Mani’s memory. Lance Corporal Puskal Rai delivered a reading of his biography, followed by a Hindu prayer offered by Mr Jhabindra Gyawali, BGN Pandit.


Following the ceremony, a commemorative volleyball competition was held. Colonel Dan Rex MVO congratulated the winners and participants, recognising their sportsmanship and their contribution to the occasion.
The event was coordinated and led by Lance Corporal Puskal Rai.
