British Gurkhas Nepal (BGN) marked the 32nd Birthday of The Royal Gurkha Rifles on 25 July 2026 in Kathmandu. The event was attended by Commander BGN Colonel Dan Rex MVO, Deputy Commander Lieutenant Colonel Rob Browne and Major (Retired) Balkrishna Rana MBE.
Lance Corporal Jitbahadur Gurung played the bagpipes as the Commander BGN and his wife arrived. This was followed by a welcome from Major (Retired) Hitman Gurung and video messages from Brigadier David Pack OBE, Lieutenant Colonel John Jeffcoat and Lieutenant Colonel Peter Houlton Hart MBE.
Commander BGN delivered his birthday message before Major Kiran Pun MVO provided Regimental updates and read the Regimental history. A cake‑cutting ceremony, group photograph and Nepali cultural dance concluded the celebration.
The event was organised by Major (Retired) Hitman Gurung, Major Kiran Pun MVO and Colour Sergeant Awash Limbu.
