For the first time in the history of the Brigade of Gurkhas (BG), the newly established Gurkha Mountain Bike Club, successfully organised its inaugural race at Newnham Park, Plymouth on 15 July 2026, drawing strong competitors from across the Brigade. This championship was held in conjunction with the Army Cycling Mountain Bike Cross-Country Series.
A highly competitive and successful day of racing concluded with the following results:
- BG MTB XC Champions – The Queen’s Gurkha Engineers (QGE)
- BG MTB XC Runners-up – Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment
- Army Inter-Unit Team Relay Runners-up – 36 Engineer Regiment
The winning team from QGE comprised:

- Staff Sergeant Sureen Thapa
- Lance Corporal Basanta Magar
- Sapper Basant Magar
