Gurkha Training Company (GTC), Catterick, was honoured to welcome Brigadier Andrew Garner CBE (Commandant of the Soldier Academy), on 13 July 2026.
The visit began with a tour of the Gurkha Temple, followed by a detailed briefing on GTC’s mission and responsibilities. Brigadier Garner and his team then observed key elements of the training programme, This ranged from General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) instruction, to a field exercise.
During the field phase, the delegation witnessed the trial integration of drone technology into training. This developing capability is enhancing situational awareness, sharpening tactical decision‑making. This all adds greater realism to infantry training.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the professionalism, commitment, and dedication of the permanent staff and the trainees of Recruit Intake 26. the permanent staff continue to prepare these young soldiers for the demands of future operations.
