The Ladies volleyball team from the Gurkha Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) Support Battalion achieved a remarkable milestone in 2024 by securing victories in both the Brigade of Gurkhas Nepal Cup Ladies Volleyball Competition and the ARRC Social Club mixed team Volleyball Competition. Under the leadership of Captain Lalkaji Gurung and the coaching of Corporal Mukesh Rai and Corporal Deujit Tilija, the team commenced their training with aspirations of triumphing in this year’s events.

The team, guided by Mrs. Ushna Gurung, the spouse of Captain Lalkaji Gurung, and captained by Mrs. Pariksha Gurung, the wife of Sergeant Bhim Gurung, engaged in regular training sessions that fostered a strong sense of motivation and camaraderie. These training sessions became increasingly popular among the participants, evolving into a social gathering. As their preparation advanced, the team also participated in the Swindon Cup, a civilian competition that provided them with valuable experience. Additionally, in the ARRC Social Club volleyball competition, the ladies formed a mixed team in collaboration with the Battalion’s male volleyball team, ultimately finishing as runners-up, while the main male team emerged victorious.

For a minor unit comprising only 250 personnel, this achievement has been celebrated as a significant success.
