A first for the KGA in Scotland
On 13 July 2026, E Battery, 1st Royal Horse Artillery, deployed to Scotland to support ceremonial duties in Edinburgh. The centrepiece of the deployment was the 21 Gun Salute at Edinburgh Castle on 17 July, marking the 79th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Camilla.

For the first time, Gurkha Gunners of The King’s Gurkha Artillery (KGA) stood alongside their British counterparts within E Battery to deliver this prestigious ceremonial duty.
Their participation represented a historic milestone for the newly formed regiment and was carried out with exemplary precision, discipline and professionalism.

This activity showcased E Battery’s adaptability and commitment to excellence, while highlighting the enduring partnership between Gurkha and British soldiers.
This relationship continues to underpin the Battery’s success on operations and in ceremonial duty.
