Major Suresh Limbu Queen’s Gurkha Signals - Gurkha Major Queen’s Gurkha Signals
Major Suresh Limbu is the 28th Gurkha Major of the Queen’s Gurkha Signals (QG SIGNALS), responsible for being the Commander’s chief and principal advisor on matters related to the QG SIGNALS.
He enlisted into the British Army in January 1996 and has had the opportunity to serve in various roles at regimental duties. He is proud to have been selected for the initial project team to spearhead the re-establishment of the 248 Gurkha Signal Squadron, under 21st Signal Regiment (Air Support) in Colerne.
His Operational tours incudes Operation AGRICOLA, SILKMAN, and HERRICK (twice). During Operation SILKMAN he fulfilled the roles of Comcen Supervisor and the operator for the Chief of Joint Operations on his liaison visit to remote areas of Sierra Leone. In 2009, he led the Royal Signals pilot scheme of an Infantry Support Team for the 1st Battalion the Mercian Regiment and deployed with them on Operation HERRICK 12, and thus brings experiences working in the all-arms environment. During Operation HERRICK 17, he was employed as the Service Desk Manager for the Helmand Regional area of operations and implemented the BMC Remedy Service Management Toolset, for which he was awarded a Master of Signals commendation.
Suresh is particularly proud to have resurrected the RSM QG SIGNALS and become the first Regimental Sergeant Major in the UK after a 17 year gap after the Gurkhas moved from Honk Kong. He successfully commissioned in 2015. His other legacy remains the establishment of the Gurkha Room, as the Project Officer, at the Combined Mess, MOD Stafford. His appointments so far have included the Motor Transport Officer in 30 Signal Regiment, Duty of Care Troop Commander in 11 (Royal School of Signals) Signal Regiment, Second in Command at 248 Gurkha Signal Squadron, Adjutant QG SIGNALS and Quartermaster 22 Signal Regiment.
He has an intermediate qualification in Economics and History from Nepal and is a professionally qualified teacher from University of Portsmouth (PCET). He has completed an MBA from University of Northampton (Strategic Management and Leadership) and an MA in Intelligence and International Relations from Staffordshire University, and currently studying Cyber Security.
His interests also includes skiing, playing occasional golf, and obtaining the Club Paragliding.
