RGR Team Retains Infantry Open Cup at Combat Arms Sailing Regatta 2026

The Combat Arms Sailing Regatta 2026 (CASR26) brought together sailors from across the Combat Arms to compete in keelboat racing, with strong participation from Regulars, Reservists, training establishments, ERE personnel, retirees, injured servicemen and women, and young RAC and Infantry soldiers and officers. The event also supported selection for representative sport and strengthened bonds across the Royal Armoured Corps and Infantry.

Organised by the Royal Armoured Corps Yacht Club and the Infantry Sailing Association, the regatta took place at the Seaview Yacht Club, Isle of Wight, from 11–13 May 2026. After a half‑day of training, two and a half days of racing followed, with around thirty crews competing.

The Royal Gurkha Rifles team—Colonel James Birch OBE, Lieutenant Colonel Anderson OBE and Major Jamie Dick won the Infantry Open Cup, retaining the trophy for a second year. They finished as the top Infantry crew and placed 6th overall out of 31 teams.
