On 20 April 2026, the Kasam Khane parade for Recruit Intake 25 Gurkhas selected to join The King’s Gurkha Artillery (KGA) was held at Larkhill Camp.
The formation of the KGA was announced in January 2025, with the first tranche of transferees from across the Brigade of Gurkhas arriving in June 2025. Further tranches will arrive annually until 2029, alongside new Gurkhas from future intakes who have completed training in Catterick.
Strengthening understanding and collaboration with the Royal Artillery (RA) remains a key priority, ensuring the KGA is fully integrated and aligned with RA objectives. This will sustain a clear focus on operational readiness and support close, effective cooperation with the RA.
As part of the enlistment process, all soldiers take an oath of allegiance to His Majesty the King. Gurkha recruits assigned to the KGA then swear a second oath of fealty to the KGA, known as the Kasam Khane ceremony.
On the parade, 20 new Gurkha Gunners from Intake 25 marched forward in groups of two or three, halting in front of the inspecting officers and two lowered guns. After saluting the inspecting officer, they touched the guns to pledge their allegiance to the KGA.
The parade also marked the transfer of 89 additional personnel, from Gunners to Captains, into the KGA.
