On 17 October 2025, personnel and family members gathered at British Gurkhas Nepal (BGN) locations across Nepal (Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dharan), to celebrate the 65th anniversary since formation of BGN. From its first days in Pakhlihawa and Dharan in 1960, BGN expanded to Pokhara and later to its current Headquarters in Kathmandu in 1989.
Colonel Dan Rex MVO (Commander BGN), thanked all BGN staff and family members, for their unwavering support which he termed as instrumental in the achievements to date.


BGN’s 65 years of presence in Nepal was also marked in British Gurkhas Pokhara (BGP) with Captain Belbahadur Gurung (Second in Command BGP), leading the ceremony attended by the camp’s Officers, staff and family members. Staff in Dharan gathered and reflected on BGN’s history, a major part of which was from this history of the Dharan camp.
The event in Kathmandu was also an opportunity to present the prizes of the BGN Triathlon. Colonel Dan Rex MVO, Commander BGN and Major Kiran Pun MVO, Gurkha Major BGN presented the prizes to the participants and winners including the overall winner Lance Corporal Sanjay Tamrakar.
