Celebrating 66 Years of British Gurkhas Nepal
By Mr Gaurav Chandra Gurung, Communications Officer HQ British Gurkhas Nepal

British Gurkhas Nepal (BGN) celebrated 66 years of service in Nepal on 9 October 2026, honouring a shared history across Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dharan.
From the establishment of Pakhlihawa and Dharan in 1960 to today’s Headquarters in Kathmandu and the recruiting camp in Pokhara, BGN’s work has always been built on strong relationships with local communities, dedicated staff and committed partners. The ability to operate to the highest standards is made possible only through the trust and cooperation of those we serve alongside.
In his message to the BGN community, Colonel Dan Rex MVO, Commander BGN, said: “Today, I would like to thank all members of Team Gurkha: our serving personnel, civilian staff, and colleagues from the Gurkha Welfare Trust. Your dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic are the foundation of everything we achieve. Whether recruiting the next generation of Gurkha soldiers, supporting serving personnel and veterans, delivering welfare services, or enabling our daily operations, your commitment makes a real difference.”
The occasion also featured an excellent Khukuri Dance performance by Lance Corporal Sujan Tamang and Lance Corporal Dikshant Gole, whose display added a fitting cultural tribute to the celebration.
