Major Chakra Khatri Awarded MBE
Major Chakra Khatri MBE (Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment) was recognised in The King’s New Year Honours List 2026 for his exceptional service. As the Field Army’s staff lead and subject‑matter expert for all Equipment Materiel Support, he carries a 24/7 responsibility that underpins Operations, Readiness, and Training across the force.
His leadership, judgement, and unwavering commitment during Exercise STEADFAST DEFENDER 24, the largest projection and sustainment of British land forces to Europe in more than four decades, was outstanding. Operating under the NATO Forward Land Force construct, and under the scrutiny of both Russia and our Allies, he was tasked with preparing, deploying, sustaining, and recovering six brigades’ worth of equipment, totalling more than 7,000 items from individual weapons to main battle tanks and aviation assets.
Through his direction, the Field Army achieved not only timely delivery but enduring sustainment throughout the exercise, ensuring the credibility, resilience, and operational effectiveness of the UK’s deployed land forces.
