Soldiers and officers from across the Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (QOGLR), operating under 28 Squadron Headquarters, have deployed to South Wales on Military Aid to the Civil Authorities (MACA) to support emergency services responding to severe wildfires across the region.

Working in high temperatures and challenging terrain, the composite regimental team is operating alongside the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and partner agencies to deliver critical operational support. Their tasks have included maintaining a 24/7 water resupply chain to remote locations and transporting essential equipment to sustain continuous firefighting on the frontline.

The team has also been heavily involved in cutting vital firebreaks through dense woodland and dry ground, helping to slow and halt the spread of multiple fast moving blazes.

As part of the UK’s high readiness standby commitment, QOGLR draws strength from across the Regiment to respond at short notice, protect communities, and reinforce national resilience when called upon.
