The King’s Gurkha Artillery (KGA) Intake Football Cup competition was officially launched on 5 August 2026 by Major Lalit Gurung (Gurkha Major), alongside Warrant Officer Class One Santosh Rai (the Regimental Sergeant Major), marking the commencement of this year’s competition.
On 8 August 2026, the regiment marked a significant milestone with the successful inauguration of the KGA Intake Cup competition at Larkhill Garrison. The tournament was organised by Intake 20, led by Gunner Prajwal Rai and supported by Lance Bombardier Akash Rai. Eight teams, including a veterans’ team, participated in a day of competitive football, camaraderie and regimental pride.

- Champions – Intake 22
- Runners-Up – Intake 19
- Best Player – Gunner Bhisan Shrestha (Intake 25)
- Best Goalkeeper – Gunner Nabin Gurung (Intake 22)
- Top Scorer – Gunner Binayak Begha (Intake 24)




All teams competed with great enthusiasm, sportsmanship and commitment, upholding the values of the KGA The event also served as an excellent opportunity to strengthen camaraderie, cohesion and team spirit, bringing personnel together through a shared passion for sport and allowing each intake to represent their team with pride.
The youngest members of the KGA, Intake 25, said: “It is a great sense of joy and gratitude. We never imagined that such a fantastic sporting activity would take place so early in our Regiment’s journey. Today, we have come together, strengthened our bonds with senior Gurujis, Saheb’s and their families, and created memories that will inspire us as we continue to grow together.”
Lieutenant Colonel Fletcher (Commander KGA), expressed his gratitude and extended a “Thulo Syabash” to Intake 20 for their outstanding initiative and leadership. He also thanked all participants and contributors for making the inaugural KGA Intake Cup 2026 a memorable and successful event.
