Following the catastrophic Bhotekohi-Trishuli flood, the British Gurkhas Nepal (BGN) community united to support those affected and contribute to ongoing relief efforts. Officers and staff across BGN Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dharan organised voluntary fundraising activities, beginning each event with a moment of silence for those affected by the disaster.
The BGN Regimental Administration Office Department led the initiative on 9 September in coordination with the BGN Locally Employed Civilian Council. In a significant gesture of support, BGN’s female civilian staff deferred their Teej celebrations and instead collected essential relief supplies. Thirty-eight members of staff contributed, with the donations handed to the 100’s Group Nepal Team for distribution.
The BGN Partners Group also helped deliver donations from the wider BGN community. On 15 October, Mrs Anna Rex, Mrs Kipa Lama and Mrs Julie Gurung visited Yellow Gumba, where they handed over supplies and met Mr Gyurmi Tamang, who is coordinating assistance for the Syabrubesi community while also personally affected by the disaster.
The response demonstrated the generosity and community spirit of BGN personnel, partners and civilian staff, and the team was humbled by the gratitude shown by those receiving their support.
