35 Soldiers and Officers from 10 Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (QOGLR), deployed on Exercise KHUKRI BALKAN, a Battlefield Study to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aims of the exercise included developing a deeper understanding of the region’s complex geopolitics and learning about previous regimental deployments on UN peacekeeping missions. The trip was organised by Captain Harris Asher and Staff Sergeant Navin Rai of 28 Squadron.

During the six-day exercise, the group visited numerous cultural and historical sites. A highlight of the trip was our visit to the Srebrenica Genocide Memorial Museum in Potocari, where the group learned about the importance of the laws of armed conflict and the tragic consequences of dehumanisation and poor leadership.

Personnel from 28 Squadron also had the opportunity to lay a wreath in memory of Private Indrakumar Limbu, who lost his life whilst deployed with 28 Squadron on Operation GRAPPLE VI in 1995.

The team was supported by the British Embassy in Bosnia & Herzegovina and the museum staff at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre.
