Remembrance Services honouring the sacrifices in all lines of duty were held at the British Gurkhas Nepal camps and the British Embassy in Nepal on the 10th of November 2024.
In a mark of tribute, His Majesty’s Ambassador to Nepal His Excellency Mr Rob Fenn, General Ashok Raj Sigdel (Chief of Army Staff, Nepali Army), Colonel Dan Rex MVO (Defence Attaché/Commander British Gurkhas Nepal/Director Gurkha Welfare Trust (Nepal)), Lieutenant General Joshua M Rudd (Deputy Commander United States Indo-Pacific Command) and Major (Retired) Bhim Bahadur Gurung MVO MBE (Chair Regimental Association Nepal) laid the wreaths at the Gurkha monument. The Service was attended by the heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Nepal Inspector General Nepal Armed Police Force Raju Aryal and officials representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nepal Police. The event saw British Gurkha veterans, BGN military personnel, families and civilian staff who observed a two-minute silence to remember the sacrifices of their colleagues, friends and forbears.
The Remembrance Service in Dharan was led by Major Gyanbahadur Dhenga (Gurkha Major BGN) and in Pokhara it was led by Major David Carter (Officer Commanding British Gurkhas Pokhara). These two events were also attended by British Gurkha veterans, serving personnel, families and civilian staff.
