The Sovereign’s Banner Competition (SBC) is an inter-platoon, yearlong test, unique to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Commissioning Course (CC) which eventually identifies the best Platoon of the Intake.
On the 12th April 2024, Colour Sergeant Robin Gurung’s platoon commissioned as the Sovereign’s Platoon for Commissioning Course 2024, winning the much coveted award, and earning the well-deserved privileges that come with it. The SBC is the culmination of the platoon’s effort throughout the year. It consists of academic studies – War studies, Defence and International Affairs and Communication and Applied Behavioural Science and military competitions – Planning Assessment, Orienteering, Marksmanship, Log race, Endurance, March and Shoot and Steeplechase.
The Sovereign’s Platoon review the Colour on the Senior Term Sovereign’s Parade. Colour Sergeant Robin Gurung was proud to represent The Royal Gurkha Rifles and the Brigade of Gurkhas as the Colour Sergeant of the Sovereign’s Platoon at the Sovereign’s Parade in April 2024.
