UK and Japanese Ambassadors Visit Headquarters British Gurkhas Nepal
Mister Yasuharu Shinto (Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Japan) and Doctor Luke Beaumont (Deputy Ambassador at the British Embassy Kathmandu) visited the Headquarters British Gurkhas Nepal (BGN) on 15 April 2026.
Mister Yasuharu Shinto is a senior Japanese diplomat assigned by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support and represent Japan’s interests in Nepal. His role includes managing embassy operations, assisting the Ambassador, and representing Japan at official events.
The Deputy Ambassador at the British Embassy Kathmandu role is to support the UK Ambassador, oversee embassy operations, and help manage the UK–Nepal diplomatic and development partnership.
They were welcomed by Colonel Dan Rex MVO (Commander BGN), Lieutenant Colonel Rob Browne (Deputy Commander BGN), Major Kiran Pun MVO (Gurkha Major BGN) and other BGN Officers. During their visit, the distinguished guests also took part in a traditional puja at the BGN temple.
